Wine Run Lanzarote 2025: Aroa Merino and Yerove Rodríguez toasted victory among volcanoes and vineyards

Almost 1,900 runners and hikers celebrated the 13th Lanzarote Wine Run, a festival that merged sport, wine and sustainability in La Geria. Lanzarote's Aroa Merino and Yerove Rodríguez were proclaimed champions in the reigning distance of 23 km, while Germany's Anya Lamprecht and Canarian Carlos Alfageme dominated the 12 km short race. The island once again won its world cups.

Wine Run Lanzarote 2025: passion for running and tasting a unique landscape

La Geria, recently recognized by FAO as Important World Agricultural Heritage System (SIPAM), returned to dress up the weekend of 14-15 June. Under the motto “Discover. Enjoy. Respect.”, runners and hikers meandered through the picón holes that protect the vineyards, animated by thousands of fans and the unmistakable volcanic curtain of Timanfaya.

La Geria, an amphitheater of lava and wine

The route challenges with picón ramps and semicircular walls that protect each vine, but at the same time offers a landscape that can be savored with all five senses. Running between volcanoes and vineyards is, in Lanzarote, a unique experience.

Blanca, the camel who conquered hearts

One of the most photographed moments was the presence of Blanche, a 10-year-old camel that toured part of the race as a tribute to the peasants who forged La Geria with the help of these animals.

Wine Festival: more than 90 references and 0 kilometer flavor

As runners reached the finish line, the Uga fairgrounds vibrated with live music and the stands of 22 wineries of the Lanzarote Denomination of Origin, which offered more than 90 labels to taste. A perfect combination of sport and wine tourism.

Inclusion and sustainability by flag

The Wine Run once again boasted the label Diver of universal accessibility and of the modality Joëlette, which allows people with reduced mobility to feel the race. Part of the proceeds will go to conservation projects in La Geria and to social entities such as ADISLAN and the Association Growing.

Conclusion: Lanzarote Tastes the Future

With thirteen editions behind it, the Wine Run continues to grow without losing its essence: running, providing and protecting an unrepeatable landscape. The 2025 edition has demonstrated that sport, culture and sustainability can walk-and run-hand. Do you dare to savor the next one?
