IRONMAN Lanzarote 2025: An extreme challenge that crowns Charles-Barclay and Magnien in an unforgettable edition

The 33rd edition of IRONMAN Lanzarote once again raised the bar. With more than 1,100 triathletes on the starting line and extreme wind and heat conditions, Europe's oldest event made it clear why it remains a living legend of international triathlon. Puerto del Carmen was once again the beating heart of the event, with thousands of people cheering on the participants on one of the most demanding tours in the world.

Lucy Charles-Barclay and Dylan Magnien: Dominion and a comeback for history

The British Lucy Charles-Barclay swept the women's category with absolute authority. From the first swimming stretch to the finish line, she left no doubt: she is one of the great triathletes in history. Her final time was 9 hours, 17 minutes and 15 seconds, crossing the finish line more than twenty minutes ahead of her pursuers.

In the men's event, Frenchman Dylan Magnien made an epic comeback. Although he finished seventh at the start of the marathon, he staged an impressive running race, overtaking all his rivals to win his first victory in an IRONMAN with a total time of 8:27:57. The Spaniard Jordi Montraveta, who had done a superb cycling segment, finished second at just 38 seconds. Denmark's Mathias Lyngsø Petersen completed the podium.

The island's heat, wind and uneven terrain make up a cocktail as spectacular as it is devastating. Lanzarote doesn't forgive mistakes, and every step towards the goal is a personal achievement.

In addition to the physical effort, the 2025 edition was characterized by several organizational improvements: a new design in the marathon turns, renewed transition zones and an even more spectacular goal. All of this is designed to improve the experience of the athlete and the public.

More than 68 nationalities, one spirit

With more than 1,150 athletes from more than 68 countries and a deployment of more than 4,000 people including organization, volunteers, security forces and technical personnel, IRONMAN Lanzarote once again demonstrated that it is much more than a race: it is a global celebration of human effort.

Institutional recognition and a message for the future

The president of the Lanzarote Council, Oswaldo Betancort, and the Sports Councillor, Juan Monzón, congratulated the winners and highlighted the impact of the event: not only sporting, but also social, economic and tourist. Both authorities thanked the volunteers and the organizing team for their work, stressing that Lanzarote remains a world leader in organizing resistance events.

IRONKIDS Lanzarote: where it all begins

As every year, the IRONMAN was accompanied by its most endearing version: the IRONKIDS. More than 110 boys and girls enjoyed an unforgettable day, with adapted distances and a festive atmosphere. No stopwatch, no pressure. Only sport, fun and values. A perfect reflection of the spirit that makes this island great.

Conclusion: Lanzarote continues to set the pace

With 33 editions to its credit, IRONMAN Lanzarote has not only stood the test of time: it has used it to grow. 2025 was an edition of the highest level, both in terms of sport and in terms of emotion. Once again, this unique island, with its landscape of fire and sea, has proven that it can be the toughest, but also the most unforgettable.
