What It Is and Why Run It

The Carrera Popular San Rafael is Teguise's classic autumn race. A 5K urban run combining history and sport: running through centuries-old cobblestones and squares with locals and families cheering from balconies.

It's the perfect opportunity to close October with good pace, debut in a 5K, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the patron saint festivities.

Race Day Schedule (Provisional)

  • Bib collection at start area (times confirmed the week of the event).

  • Children's races and/or inclusive walk before the main race.

  • 5K race at 5:00 PM.

    (When the 2026 regulations are released, times and start order will be updated).

Course and Terrain

  • Type: urban circuit in the historic center.

  • Surface: asphalt with cobblestone sections.

  • Profile: practically flat; tight turns requiring good race management.

  • Map: will be published on the official link with regulations and aid stations.

Runner Services

  • Timing and online results.

  • Road safety with traffic closures.

  • Entertainment at start and finish.

  • T-shirt/gift and category prizes (according to regulations).

Inclusive and Family-Friendly

San Rafael is designed for everyone:

  • Minors with adapted distances.

  • Inclusive walk for those preferring the atmosphere without a stopwatch.

  • Activities and entertainment in the square for supporters.

Race Strategy (Runner to Runner)

  • Km 0–1: controlled start, avoid bottlenecks in the first turns.

  • Km 1–3: stabilize pace on straights and maintain traction on cobblestones.

  • Km 3–4: stay focused through the turns.

  • Km 4–5: accelerate entering the finish area; the square pushes you to give everything.

Local Logistics

  • Parking: outside the historic center; arrive early.

  • Warm-up: 15–20' easy + strides on nearby streets.

  • Clothing: light and breathable; arm warmers if it cools down.

  • Post-race: festive atmosphere in the central square, ideal for the "third half".

Quick Checklist

  • Bib and chip attached before warm-up.

  • Comfortable shoes for asphalt and cobblestone.
