What is it and why run it

El Trail Caldera de El Cuchillo It is one of those races that summarize Lanzarote in 10 kilometers: Picón, Bad country, smell of Taro and a bustling town cheering. It's perfect if you want a Explosive trail and very corrigible, with a technical dot in sections of loose stone. If you come from asphalt, it's a great gateway to volcanic terrain.

Program of the day (indicative)

  • Delivery of bibs in the departure area (the city council/organizer specifies this the week of the event).
  • Chinijos Race (children by age, short distances) to open their mouths.
  • 5.1 km popular to the rhythm of the town's festival.
  • 10.6 km trail as the main test at the end of the afternoon (exact time in regulation).

When the organizer publishes the Regulation 2025, we updated here timetables, Order of exits and drawers if there were any.

Course and terrain

  • Surface: Mixture of volcanic track (Picon/Jable), trail and some stretch of Loose Stone.
  • Profile: wavy; without long ports, but with “leg-breaking” slopes that you can feel.
  • Views: To the kettle and to the agricultural landscape of The Knife.
  • Signage: visible beacons, controls and volunteering at key junctions.
  • Heat/wind: October is usually nice, but if it blows, it shows in open areas.

Career strategy (runner to runner)

10.6 km

  • Km 0—2: salt controlled; let your heart rise without passing you by.
  • Km 2—7: rhythm sustained on the track; take advantage of the plains to Put cadence.
  • Sections of loose stone: “light” feet, looking 2—3 m ahead.
  • Last 2—3 km: progression and Compact stride; think of lively ankles and firm arms.

5.1 km

  • Derby At a high pace from the arch; look for a group and avoid unnecessary changes on the slopes.

Recommended material

  • Lightweight trail shoes (medium tack is perfect for picón).
  • sock that does not accumulate fine sand; leggings optional if you are “magnetic” for the jable.
  • Cap/visor and clear glasses if there is dust on the track.
  • Soft bottle small if you like to get your mouth wet (depending on supplies).
  • Anti-chafing cream in feet if you are not used to volcanic sand.

Local logistics

  • Parking: nicest Out of the circuit and short walk to the start/finish line.
  • El Cuchillo festivities: village atmosphere, perfect for coming with family.
  • Postmeta: water, something salty and a gentle walk to let loose; the volcanic surface “charges” twin/soleo.

Quick Check-list

  • Number and chip placed.
  • 2 extra pins or dorsal holder.
  • Trail shoes Already shot.
  • Bottle/soft flask (if you use it).
  • Postmeta meeting point with your loved ones.
