El Saturday, September 27, 2025 The beach Under the Risk (Lanzarote) will once again be the launch ramp to Caleta de Sebo (The Funny One). Only 2,600 m separate the two islands within the “El Rio” Marine Reserve, the largest marine life sanctuary in Spain. El Cabildo de Lanzarote — Island Sports Service mobilizes boats, kayaks and a whole safety device for 500 swimmers to cross the strait inaugurated by 50 pioneers in 1993.
Chip, hat and identification bracelet must be removed in Caleta de Sebo before 10:30 a.m.; collective boarding to Bajo el Risco at 11:00 h. Places: 450 adults + 50 children (waiting list included).
The boat leaves you at the foot of the Famara cliff: countdown, honk and... into the water! The background alternates white sand, sebum stains and lava blocks as the current gently pushes you towards La Graciosa. In the middle of the channel, the blue one opens up to an immense Atlantic aquarium; you see the background again as you approach the pier, where a cloud of spectators guides you with their cheers to the finish carpet.
From dawn, the square next to the pier smells of coffee and homemade cake. Numbers are distributed, they sound simple and children paint banners with number 1 in the wind. After the mass arrival, the trophies are awarded with views of the Isla de Montaña Clara and the party continues with adventure talks, fishing tapas and selfies with the medal. Here you don't just cross a strait: you cross a line between personal challenge and the magic of a unique place.
The 500 bracelets sell out every year: Secure your bib today and write your name in the story of El Rio. See you between Lanzarote and La Graciosa! 🌊🏊
