El Saturday, October 18, 2025 The iconic cove of Papagayo (Yaiza) is no longer just a postcard beach: it becomes a water lane for the wildest journey on the island. La Open Water Association Take all the logistics to this protected corner —no beach bars, no asphalt, just the ocean and the cliff—so you can feel the Atlantic in its purest state. Golden sand, jade-colored water and a volcanic amphitheater that multiplies the echo of every applause.
Final schedules and quotas will be published when registrations open.
Start thrown from the sand, orange buoy and turn towards the rock arch that escorts the cove. For 3 and 6 km, the route opens up to deeper waters: white sand bottoms, stripes of Posidonia and silver shoals that accompany each stroke. The return leg enters the cove with the wind in favor; climb over the shore, with time to look up and see the brutal contrast between turquoise and black lava.
Papagayo doesn't have a walk, so the “public” settles in early with umbrellas and coolers. Chill-house DJ, tropical fruit tasting and paddle-surf workshop for companions. When the sun goes down, controlled bonfire, “jareas pop” grill and simple jam session: the Lanzarote version of an after-swim at the edge of the ocean.
Places are limited: secure a bib number and come splash on the beach that appears on all the postcards. Sign up today and become the protagonist of Papagayo. See you in the water! 🌊🏊♀️
