El Saturday, August 2, 2025 The fishing pier of El Poril opens as the start and finish line of La Tiñosa's first swimming trip. Transparent Atlantic waters, gentle breezes and the unmistakable atmosphere of Fiestas del Carmen they clothe swimmers of all ages. Organize the C.D. 4 Elements MD with the collaboration of the City Council of Tías, turning a simple sporting challenge into the beating heart of a fishing district.
Final schedules and places will be confirmed when registrations are opened.
I honk in El Poril and turn to the 200 m red buoy: the coastal triangle, protected by Los Ajaches, offers calm seas and sandy bottoms with volcanic rocks. Those of 3 km go around twice and cross Playa Chica with their little boats; those of 1.5 km complete one. A safe and spectacular route to feel the open sea without leaving the coast.
Here the clock is an excuse: the whole town is turning around. Jolateros on display, street flags and finely tuned bells announce the Fiestas del Carmen. You cross meta between aromas of jares, mojo and wrinkled potatoes, with a party and a multilingual speaker celebrating each finisher. Rather than competing, you come to feel grouchy for a day.
Dorsal reserve, share your challenge with #LaTiñosaSwim and let yourself be conquered by the maritime essence of southern Lanzarote. See you in the water! 🌊🏊
