The Volcano Triathlon It is much more than an Olympic distance test: it is a legendary event in the world of triathlon and an unmissable event for athletes from all over the world.
Organized by the emblematic Club La Santa, in Tinajo, Lanzarote, since 1984, has established itself as The oldest international triathlon in Spain, and one of the most valued on the European circuit for its atmosphere, route and impeccable organization.
The test is held every year at the beginning of May, being the Perfect starting gun for the triathlon season. The 2025 edition will take place on May 3, and will bring together elite athletes and fans in an experience that is as demanding as it is unforgettable.
The tour begins with a 1.5 km swimming in the saltwater lagoon of Club La Santa, in mode Rolling Start, ideal for staggering the output fluidly. Next, the participants are faced with 40 km of cycling without drafting, with a spectacular circuit that crosses emblematic areas of the north of Lanzarote: Caleta de Caballo, Soo, Famara and Teguise. The test culminates with 10 km of running, divided into two rounds, starting and finishing at the Club's stadium, where the awards ceremony and post-meta services are also held.
Beyond the sporting challenge, the Volcano stands out for offering a comprehensive experience: triathletes can stay inside the sports complex itself, benefit from an exclusive discount on accommodation, access world-class facilities (50 m swimming pools, athletic track, gym, bicycle center, etc.) and enjoy an international and professional environment.
In addition, the event includes the Volcano Kids, a non-competitive race for children and young people from 7 to 17 years old, encouraging the spirit of triathlon from an early age. This race is held the day before and is a fundamental part of the family and participatory environment of the event.
Every year, the Volcano Triathlon brings together more than 400 athletes of up to 30 nationalities. The 2024 edition crowned Raúl Lecuona and Lydia Dant as champions on a vibrant day. The event also offers relay modality, ideal for teams and companies.
