Event information

About the race

The Petizo Trail is run after dark in Órzola, at the northern tip of Lanzarote, on Saturday 31 October 2026. Start and finish are at the Teleclub de Órzola. The race rules and the organiser’s own page describe the course in the same words, «caminos, senderos y pistas del entorno de Órzola», tracks, footpaths and trails around Órzola, and the lines of both distances can be downloaded as KML files from the organiser’s page.

Two distances, two start times

• 5.8 km, 150 metres of climbing. Starts at 19:00. Minimum age 5.
• 20.6 km, 450 metres of climbing. Starts at 19:30. Minimum age 16.

Those two times come from the technical sheet in the race rules, «Hora de salida 5,8 km 19:00» and «Hora de salida 20,6 km 19:30», and they are repeated in its article 2.

Do not confuse them with what RockTheSport shows, which is a different thing. Its «Cuándo» field reads «Desde el sábado, 31 de octubre de 2026 a las 19:00 hasta el sábado, 31 de octubre de 2026 a las 23:59», from 19:00 to 23:59 on Saturday 31 October: that is the window for the whole event, not the start of each race. It matches the short course by coincidence and falls short for the long one. The organiser’s own page, for its part, announces «Evento de todo el día», an all-day event, and publishes no start time at all, checked on 3 October 2026.

There is a single aid station on each distance: the one on the 5.8 km is at Peña Hendida, the one on the 20.6 km at the Mirador del Río (rules, article 11).

Prices and deadline

Ten euros for the short course and fifteen for the long one, prices read on 3 October 2026 on RockTheSport and in the race rules, which give the same figures. There is a single price per distance, with no rises by date: both fees are labelled «Fecha hasta 28/10/2026 0:00» and the platform notes that they are «Importes con impuestos incluidos», taxes included.

Entries opened on 15 September at 13:00 and the last day to sign up is Tuesday 27 October. On this the two documents do not say the same thing:

• RockTheSport, which is the one taking the money: «Fechas de inscripción: Del 15/09/2026 a las 13:00 al 28/10/2026 a las 0:00». 00:00 on the 28th is the moment that day begins, so the last usable day is the 27th.
• The race rules, article 4.1: «Plazo de inscripción: miércoles, 28 de octubre de 2026», which would read as the 28th still counting.

This page goes with the platform’s date, because that is the one that closes the payment. Leave it until the 28th and you risk finding it shut.

It can close sooner: «Una vez alcanzado el número máximo de plazas, la organización podrá cerrar anticipadamente las inscripciones», once the maximum number of places is reached the organisers may close entries early (article 4.2). Registration is through RockTheSport, even though the rules give the organiser’s own website as the platform; the entry button on that website leads precisely to RockTheSport.

Compulsory kit and cut-offs

The rules head both lists «Material obligatorio propuesto», proposed compulsory kit, and in article 1.3 they warn that the final compulsory kit is announced before the race. With that caveat, this is what they ask for:

• 5.8 km: a working phone with battery, your bib and a head torch. The survival blanket appears here only as recommended.
• 20.6 km: the same, plus a survival blanket, which on this distance really is on the compulsory list.

The bib is compulsory and must be visible on both distances, the organisers may check kit before the start or out on the course, and they may add compulsory items on the weather forecast, giving notice beforehand.

Cut-off times are not published, checked on 3 October 2026. The rules put them on the list of things that will be announced before the race (article 1.3).

Who can take part

Minimum age 5 on the 5.8 km and 16 on the 20.6 km. Under-18s need a form signed by a parent or legal guardian, and the rules carry an annex for it. No federation licence or medical certificate is asked for: neither the rules nor RockTheSport mention them, checked on 3 October 2026. All article 5.1 requires is «encontrarse en condiciones físicas adecuadas para afrontar la modalidad elegida», being in adequate physical shape for the distance you pick.

Bibs are collected in the village

At the Teleclub de Órzola, on Friday the 30th from 18:00 to 20:00 and on Saturday the 31st from 16:00 to 17:00 (rules, article 7.1). Bring identification: «Para retirar el dorsal podrá solicitarse DNI, NIE, pasaporte u otro documento oficial que permita comprobar la identidad», a national ID card, NIE, passport or another official document that proves who you are. If someone else collects it for you, they will have to show whatever paperwork or authorisation the organisers set out in advance.

Two things that do not add up in the paperwork

Who organises it. Three documents, three names. The rules say «Entidad/Asociación organizadora: Asociación cultural lúdico-festiva peña hendida» and give a contact email of their own, different from the Summits Sports Events one. The event page says «Organizador: Summits Sports Events». And RockTheSport gives «LOGOS LANZAROTE SL» as the contact, with the same phone number Summits Sports Events publishes.

How many places there are. The technical sheet in the rules says «Número máximo de participantes 200 personas», and its article 4.1 says «Plazas disponibles 5,8 km: 200px» and «Plazas disponibles 20,6 km: 200px». Either it is 200 in total or it is 200 per distance, and it is the same document saying both. RockTheSport publishes no places or cap, checked on 3 October 2026.

What happened in 2025

There was a night race in Órzola on 31 October 2025, but not quite this one: it was called Petizo Trail by KMxSonrisas. For that edition we have no document we can cite: no distances, no results, no participation figure, checked on 3 October 2026 in both of the race’s own sources. We say it that way rather than give figures from hearsay, which is what used to be here.
